Was cool until tried it with tab groups: save tab group then close/reopen it several time. 50% change that tab group reopen will break tab group: only the first tab remain in the group, other tabs open not grouped. UPDATE: Was able to fix tab groups behavior with another extension "Tab position customizer" configuring it's options : in my case I had to add custom rules for "chrome://newtab" and "chrome-extension://jpfpebmajhhopeonhlcgidhclcccjcik/override.html" only.
I don't know about tab groups, but this extension works perfectly for my use case: Open new tab to the right of current Open last active tab on closing the current Thank you to the author :-)

ok, but when no option after closing is fitting it jumps to the very last tab at the right. Perhaps another "rescue option" would help .)
ms edge opens new tab on the far right and this allows me to open tab adjacent to the tab i am currently in. so 5/5

My favorite features include: - Always open external links in a new tab (e.g. clicking on a figma/github/etc link in a Jira card will open in a new tab) - Always open new tabs alllll the way to the right, instead of to the right of current tab Once installed, go to chrome-extension://fjccjnfkdkdmjohojoggodkigkjkkjhl/options.html to choose the options you want. Enables me to have new tabs open at the top (my tab bar is vertical on the left) and to have a tab closing make the most recent active tab reopen.
Love the idea but not updated for best part of a decade means it has tons of bugs now (tested with chrome on windows 10) making it simply unusable for my needs
